Let's get this party started

And what better way to start than to take a look at
one of our favorite passages . . . Jeremiah 48:10.

“A curse on him who is lax in doing the LORD’S work!
A curse on him who keeps his sword from bloodshed."
(Jeremiah 48:10, NIV)

In the Hebrew, it would look something like this . .
.

Hebrew is one of those pesky right-to-left languages so
the initial transliteration can seem odd to the ugly American . . .

Flipping it around so it makes a bit more sense . . .

"being-cursed one-doing work-of Yahweh deceitful

and-being-cursed one-withholding sword-of-him from-bloodshed"

That is a whole lot of information, so why don’t
we concentrate on just one word . . . “Sword”.

This “sword-of-him” or “his sword” is transliterated as “chrbu”.
(Interlinear Scripture Analyzer, version 1.2.0)

According to The Online Bible Edition this would
relate to the Hebrew root . . .

Listed as Strong number 02719

English transliteration: chereb

kheh’- reb

Based on the 1769 Authorized Version of the Bible,
this word is used several times to represent various
related concepts:

03027 1; 413 total

Strong’s definition(s)

In our subject verse, “chereb” means sword.

So this was the first installment of The Word . . .
